16 Tips for Successful Blogging

Let me come straight to the point:

1.Stop convincing yourself: That, you've floated a Blog just because it's your hobby. Had it been so you would have been reading other blogs and commenting on various issues -- more than sufficient to quench your thirst for creativity.

2.Convince yourself: That, you've started the Blog to enhance your reputation in personal and professional circle and/or earn few extra bucks -- may be some big money in future.
3.Do a thorough research: Focus reading relevant references during research on internet and ignore others  -- including most eye-catching news headlines.

4.Never try to blog during working hours: Minor interruptions during writing a blog posting may put you off-the- track and you're likely to produce some bull shit!

5.Be a serious Blogger: If you are serious about Blogging then you must post relevant articles at least twice a week -- otherwise quit it.   It's not your cup of tea.

6.Keep your eyes and ears open: You'll come across hundreds of interesting subjects for your Blog articles. But, watch out for lates developments closely and dig out the morale of the story.

7.Content is the King - everybody says - but Marketing is the Queen: No use of producing great articles if you've no audience. Sooner you realize better it is. Chalk out a strategic audience development plan and keep on improvising.

8.Become member of at least 10 popular Social Bookmarking Sites: Post links to your articles on those sites but not immediately -- as that would affect the search rankings of your blog pages.

9.Become member of at least 5 Social Networking Sites: Some of those sites are offering the opportunity to Blog from within and you should publish your articles there with a link - signature along with blog address is the best option - pointed at your own blog.

10.Add value to your postings: Elaborate your opinion with the help of few references to relevant articles from reputed web sites. Readers are investing precious time not for knowing your personal opinion only. So, offer value for their time.

11. Identify at least 25 reputed News and Article sites: Regular scanning of those sites will enhance your knowledge base and also help you to identify the subjects for blog postings.

12.Use simple language: Write your postings using simple words and avoid showing off your writing skills. Most of the world famous Bloggers use very simple language.

13.Avoid using unnecessary punctuations: Popularity of the article is assured when the sentences are designed  with less interruptions for smooth reading.

14.Focus on creativity while writing: Remember, article writing is not one of the  multitasking job. So, while producing the articles you must detach yourself from the rest of the world.

15.Have Patience: Keep on doing good work and wait for the right break, which may take more than few months or even a few years. Remember: There is no short cut to success.

16.Edit articles few time before posting: Scan your postings carefully, may be twice or thrice, before finally uploading to the Blog. I am sure, you will correct a few silly mistakes.

Hi Abhijit
I have been contemplating starting a blog myself. I am also registered on a few blog sites and got the blog name locked.
Hopefully I will be able to start it soon!
