Destiny's Torture: The Inevitable Success!

I have not received any call from Sandip for more than a week. Nothing wrong, I assume. He must be busy; however, in view of the situation that he is in, I'm getting a bit worried now.

Should I call him up? But, long ago I made a promise to myself that I should always wait for him to call me. There was no specific reason: Just to allow him to be mentally ready for sharing his life developments with me.

I hope, he is doing better. I can only pray to God for making his life a little peaceful, as he has been ruthlessly cornered from all fronts by a merciless destiny -- almost beyond survival.

What matters Most in Life: Answer to A Question!

Love, affection, care

It's not, what are you going through in life that matters most;

But, how are you responding to it.

It's not, what are you suffering from in life that matters most;

But, what are you doing to come out of it.

3 Steps to Leadership Success

One of my ex bosses, with whom I had worked for more than 4 years, achieved his target of making a turn around in less than a year against 3 years specified by the top management.

Conventionally, it was an impossible target, especially when the company was on the brink of getting blacklisted by most of the customers in view of major quality related issues.

However, he made it possible through a unique combination of 3 strategic and tactical initiatives. The key areas that he attacked first, and never retired until making them almost flawless, were:

The Last Nail in the Coffin of HR!

My Boy Builds Coffins Track 10

It took me more than an hour to decide about the heading of this post. Having decided, at last, I'm sure, there couldn't have been a more revealing one.

Today, I noticed, and sadly, the ultimate demise of a function called Human Resource Development.

Let me tell you, how and why:

Learn to Look, down below the Surface!

When I first met him, he behaved quite differently. In fact, he misbehaved.

However, after a few interactions and extended conversations, he told me: "Abhijit, how could I behave so stupidly with you, when we met first?"

What I replied back, is private. But, the wisdom that I wish to share with you is: Never judge a person by his professional background, or by his look.

Six Drops of Wisdom: A Failure's Point of View!

1. Happiness is like a girl: when you go after her, she keeps moving away; when you ignore her, she comes running after you.

2. Never regret your choices, because they are like your own children: good or bad doesn't matter, because they are your responsibility.

Do You Take Your Life Seriously?

How many times you have heard this proverb - from how many people - who, trying to inspire others, would say: "Don't worry, be happy?" Several, times and people; I'm sure!

Sounds nice, and quite soothing as well, when a caring voice delivers such reassuring sentence. But often, this, instead of helping you get out of trouble -- may push you more into it.

Commitment, Once Made, Must be Honored!

"The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor." - Vince Lombardi

Changing stand has become as usual as changing clothes: a regular routine job.

Momentary compulsion for achieving better results, and ahead of others, destroys one of the most important basic human values: commitment!

Destiny's Torture: Is There A Life, Beyond This Life?

"How long can you sustain a life that's being attacked from all directions? Living a life, that in no way reflects the consequences of my Karma in this life, am I gradually becoming a believer from my lifelong standing of being an atheist?" asked Sandip, while talking to me an hour ago.

Sandip continued. "Abhijit, has what we go through in our life something to do with a life beyond this? Or, everything is random as the physicists claim?"

"Does it mean, like the creation of universe, our life situations are nothing but random occurrences?" Sandip finished, expecting me to come out with a plausible answer.

Secret to Successful Bounce Back: 'Mind Toughness' Index!

In every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. That's what Newton's Third Law of Motion says, and, undoubtedly, it applies to our life developments as well.

Simply put: while negotiating through a turbulent life, more of negativity, that we can absorb, help us bounce back, more positively. However, the most important issue here is to absorb the crushing impacts without collapsing.

Why You Must Occasionally Meet A few Negative Persons!

Every time I meet him, for whatever reasons, he, after covering the meeting agenda, would eventually focus on highlighting some flaws in me that even I'm not aware of.

In fact, today, when I met him to discuss about a serious issue, he, far quicker than his earlier performances, came heavily down on me, saying that I would never be successful in life for the reasons.......

Revenge Should Never be Bitter!

Revenge, sounds so negative and bitter!

Isn't it?

But, for some, it remains the only way to avenge the injustice done. However, revenge, through initiating some destructive actions, can never be justified from any angle.

If you really wish to take revenge, focus on constructive steps of avenging the injustice meted out to you and only through making the other person realize her/his mistakes.

Destiny's Torture: Down the Memory Lane

Since I have written quite a lot about Sandip's struggle against Destiny's torture, let me now formally introduce him to you.

He is around 42/43 years of age and married, and blessed with a 14 years old son. After completing his Masters in Marketing, from a premier institute, 20 years ago, Sandip joined a large Indian company and worked there for 8 years.

Social Intelliegence Skills And Knowledge Make You Lucky

There is no scientific way to increase your chances of being lucky in life. However, I think, luck is mostly about sensing every opportunity that crosses your path and taking an appropriate action to en-cash it to the best of your advantage.

Simply working hard may not be sufficient but knowing, when and where to focus most.

Destiny's Torture: A Faint Rainbow of Hope in the Horizon!

"Hi Abhijit!" Sandip's voice was sounding very positive when I responded to his call on my cellphone yesterday night.

He had called up after a gap of more than a week. Today only, I was thinking to get in touch with him. However, I knew that he must be busy in his crusade against destiny's torture and wasn't very keen to interrupt. In fact, I wanted him to call me, as and when he is mentally prepared to share the latest developments.

Be A Sparkling Leader!

Success materials, never in their life, ever look for sympathy/empathy from anyone; neither they play with others' emotion, even while negotiating through a down-turn.

They just wait for the right time. And, when time comes, they ruthlessly destroy traces of sarcastic smile on the faces of those human predators, who, appearing to be friend, look for tasting the blood oozing out of others' wounds.

Live A Life, That's Worth Living!

We live a life, hoping that it would be an event-full life.

We live a life, hoping that it would make us sustain the burden of life.

We live a life, hoping that nothing but hope that truly matters in life.

Destiny's Torture: When Giving Up Appears Inevitable

Sandip just called up and talked to me for more than an hour. He said, "Abhijit, I have tried my best not to give up. But now, it is the issue of making both the ends meet. I have completely exhausted all my financial resources. I can't pull on, anymore!"

"What does it mean, Sandip?" I asked.

"Abhijit, I'm in a situation where I'm unable to meet my daily expenses, forget the debts." Sandip's voice was hardly audible. "All the deals, which were more than certain to happen, have fallen through."

Destiny's Torture: Positive Attitude Can Tame A Violent Destiny

Having published a lot about how my friend Sandip is fighting against destiny's injustice, I must say that I've already learned a few important life lessons from the way he is tackling the situation. One of them is the importance of attitude.

In my opinion, his biggest asset is his attitude. He is so positive about every negative development in his life. I'm sure, without it, he would surely have succumbed to destiny's torture by now.

Destiny's Torture: Yet another Blow to A Struggling Soul!

Yet another blow, from ruthless destiny, to my friend Sandip. That too, when, he is fighting against the mother of all battles in terms of making both the ends meet and remain alive.

Sandip just called up, and shared with me, what, in my opinion, could easily prove fatal to any soul on this planet, when, she or he, struggling to remain alive, watches giant waves of Tsunami looming large on the horizon above the sea.

Destiny's Torture: Make Friendship with Wrong and Irreversible Choices!

Today is Holi and obviously a holiday. I was watching TV when my mobile phone came into life. Seeing 'Sandip calling,' flashing on the screen, I immediately picked it up.

"Hi Sandip, happy holi," I said. "How was it for you, dear?"

Silenced prevailed over the other side for a few seconds and then, Sandip came in, "no holi this time, Abhijit."

Something wrong, I thought, but decided to wait and watch so that he himself comes out with what's bothering him.

Destiny's Torture: When Feelings Go Unnoticed!

Despite his momentary breakdown, day before yesterday, while talking to me late in the night, Sandip appeared to be much more composed when he called me up yesterday to share his thoughts.

Let's listen to him...

Destiny's Torture -- A Dark Horizon with No Hope!

The story of my friend's struggle for survival has made me so much concerned, that, I have told him to share with me on daily basis whatever he is going through.

The primary reason for this decision is to allow him vent out his frustrations, making him better prepared to face destiny's injustice. And, the second reason is to share with others the details of his fight against destiny's terrorism.

Who doesn't struggle in life, but, based on what I've heard from him, so far, he seemed to be crossing the path of fire with naked feet and for a long time.

Don't Let Down the Reputation of HR!

When a senior HR professional, who recently received an offer from a 3 billion dollar Indian company as global HR Head, called me up to inform that he had declined the offer, because, none of his well wishers - with whom he had shared the news - encouraged him to take it up, because of the company's outstanding reputation in the market as the mother of 'Human Resource Destruction,' I sat quietly and thought it over seriously.

Frankly speaking, I have been watching this drama, for long, of the Indian company owners making a mockery of HR and sharing the same in their private circle.
