What are the rules of a so called human society, pertaining to the punishment framed out by the constitution of a democratic set up, for dealing with criminals who undertake the shameless and barbaric act of raping the woman?
The answer is very simple: Law Enforcement agencies would catch the culprit/s, sometime, and try him/them out through a well-defined set of legal proceeding extending over several years. Often, accused are set free because of lack of evidence.Even if convicted, they would come out of the jail after a few years and.....
What amuses me is, do we have an element of fear incorporated in our so called legal system that would demotivate a prospective criminal from undertaking a heinous crime like raping the women?
Unfortunately, we don't have. And the result is visible.
And this lack of an appropriate system for achieving the net result, that produces no tangible outcome, forces me to think for awarding a result oriented punishment to those rapists: To be hanged until death!
The reason is very simple: How do you apply the rules of a civilized society while dealing with criminals who don't belong to the civilization?
A sense of helplessness, influenced by the fact that I'm a now-worried father of two teen age daughters, compels me to think about rendering 'Capital Punishment' to those rapists -- that, perhaps, would deter similar barbarians from walking along the same path.
I think, once proven guilty, the rapist must be hanged until death, so that none ever dare follow the same path.
