Two Sides of Management Coin, With Identical Perspective

Life is like a coin; two sides with apparently different perspectives. One side is our professional life and the other side: Personal. Not really different though, but we try to keep both separate and create trouble for us.

A week ago, while counselling my team members for improving their performance, the example that I cited made me realize: How identical are our personal and professional life -- in terms of basic structure.

Similar to our personal life, where there exists a 3-tier hierarchy of grand-parents, parents and the children; in our professional life also, the structure is the same: top Management, middle management and junior management.

The primary role of 1st generation, by virtue of their life experience, is to help the 2nd generation for both making their life better and help them in handling the 3rd.

Not so surprisingly, the same principle applies to management practices also: The top management is supposed to help the middle, for both improving their own performance as well as getting the best out of the juniors.

How I used this concept to make my team members self-motivated is a different story, that I would share with you later; however, the results that I derived out of it, was remarkable in terms of business gains.

In the mean time, why don't you give it a serious thought and come out with some more analysis!
