The Rise And Fall of Nira Radia

Despite being the most preferred public relation lobbyist of the Indian Industrialists for more than a decade, I have never head of Nira Radia until the hell broke loose a month ago.

However, what she achieved in just 15 years - from mid nineties when she returned to India , up until now - is, an entrepreneur's dream: Contacts, Power, Money.. everything one can dream of achieving in life.

From a liaison officer in 1995 to holding the responsibility of public relations for all 90 Tata group companies in 2001, is no less an achievement than perhaps winning a global beauty contest.

And to my utter surprise, she allegedly received more than 12 million dollars from Tata Teleservices as consultation fees and that's  more than a decent amount by any standard!

I really don't know the secret behind this huge success, but, leave it to your wild imagination: How she must have grabbed this huge contract. Because, 6 years is too short a period to establish oneself in a highly competitive market like public relations. After all, she was not a movie heroine, who shoot to fame, overnight.

Well, an interesting dissection of her profile at MSN News, says:

"Radia, said to be in her fifties, moved to London from Kenya in the 1970s and schooled at the elite school Haberdashers' Aske's in northern London. She graduated from the University of Warwick and got married to UK businessman Janak Radia, a Gujarati. The marriage did not click and the divorced Radia moved to India in mid-nineties. She started off as Sahara liaison officer and soon became India representative of Singapore Airlines, KLM, UK Air."

Go through the post, and know her better!

Hold it, I haven't yet finished.

For a quick update, please go through an interesting post at IBNLive  highlighting something more than we would love to know: More names, I mean the 'Rich and Famous,' from all walks of life.

Painfully, for me, she is no better than a prostitute who danced in tune with the 'Rich and Famous,' or, may be, made them dance the way she wanted!
