The U-bend of Life: Death of Ambition, Birth of Acceptance!

An Amazing and well-researched post at 'The Economist,' clearly revealing, how, while growing old, we let our ambitions die a peaceful death filling up the void with a growing sense of acceptance, highlights:

"When people start out on adult life, they are, on average, pretty cheerful. Things go downhill from youth to middle age until they reach a nadir commonly known as the mid-life crisis. So far, so familiar. The surprising part happens after that. Although as people move towards old age they lose things they treasure—vitality, mental sharpness and looks—they also gain what people spend their lives pursuing: happiness."

This is, perhaps, what I was trying to highlight through one of my recent posts, 'You Already Have Everything in Life' with specific reference to an article by Leo Babauta of 'Zen Habits' fame.

Yes, happiness is strongly influenced by our ability to accept things as they are, and I strongly believe that most of us can bring down the onset of U-bend - in our life - by a couple of years -- if we are able to change-over to an acceptance mode a little earlier.
