Is HR Losing Its Relevance, In A Competitive Market?

The heading of this post is a difficult question to answer.

However, let me share with you, what I feel about the role of HR as far as the current competitive recruitment scenario is concerned -- highlighting a few  real-life examples!

One of the candidates sponsored by our organization and approved by the Business Head of one of our clients, more than a month ago, is still waiting for a final approval from 'Human Resource Development' department.

You know, why?

Because, Gr. HR Head of the Corporation is busy identifying a role for the newcomer, which has already been demarcated by the corresponding Business Head: He, who is ultimately responsible for the bottom line.

So, what's the problem? I mean, why the Gr. HR Head is not giving it a push - rather than a pull - bringing on board a performer!

A mystery!

Confused, as always, as a recruiter, I'm leaving no stone unturned to convince the Almighty for bestowing upon that gentlemen - Gr. HR head - some sort of extra-terrestrial OD interventions.

Sounds humorous? Yes, it is!

Jokes apart, I'm surprised to notice that most of our HR leaders are still not realizing, how talent crunch is engulfing the industry - like never before - with organizations struggling to retain the existing employees and hiring a few relevant externals, if necessary

And adding fuel to the fire, the HR department, in an attempt to maintain its relevance, is desperately creating a political hurdle to making it happen.

An allegation? Yes, but worth a serious attention!
