Predators, statistically, succeed only once out of every 20 hardworking hunting attempts at killing their prey. That's what I have learned from a program on Animal Planet TV channel the other day.

Those animals, winning over the pains and agonies of so many futile attempts, never get tired until making it happen.  

Well, for them, it's a matter of survival and they have to succeed to remain alive. For us, mediocrity ensures stability and the road to extra-ordinary success is full of risks and uncertainties.

So, we prefer not take risks and remain ordinary!

A couple of days ago, one of the candidates, who was offered a special package by one of my MNC clients, backed out at the last moment.

That's fine. If you have managed to get a better offer, there is nothing wrong in going ahead with the same. It's your career and you have every right to pick up the best option.

Most of the people come to a conclusion - while handling a dispute - listening to one side of the story or, to both the sides but believing the one coming from people whom they are emotionally attached with.

Don't be a fool, to be blackmailed emotionally, if you wish to follow the path of neutrality and justice.

So I suggest: Never blindly trust even the most trustworthy but verify the content of dispute, before taking a call on the issue and releasing your opinion.

"Come on, come on, move fast," a high-pitched voice was getting closer every moment. It was around 11 O'clock in the night and most of the students at Hostel No 9 were relaxing. Suddenly there was chaos in the whole hostel with dozens of senior students pouring in from nowhere and directing all newcomers to the terrace.

"What happened," I asked a senior. "Why are you taking us there, and what are you going to do with us?"

"Look, we are going to play night cricket over there, and trust me, it would be quite interesting to play with so many bats and balls at your disposal." He said, laughing loudly.

Just a few days into the hostel, I was utterly confused as to what was going to happen next and, without further questioning, decided to follow his instruction.

Today I was watching a program on TV, reconstructing the survival story of three people who lost their direction while finishing off a remote island.

Frantically searching for their base, unsuccessfully though, they exhausted boat's fuel and with great difficulties somehow managed to reach a rocky and isolated part of the island.

He called up and desperately, requesting me to look for an immediate placement for him as he has already been serving the notice period. He is the same person whom I have been repeatedly calling up for past several months, but in vein. He never bothered to pick up my calls, neither called back. Simply put, he refused to maintain a decade old relationship while riding the success wave.

Another professional, who would always give me an appointment, but would refuse to meet at the last moment , not once but several times, demonstrates a weird behavior that needs detailed analysis to identify the root cause of such an irrational approach. Ideally, when you're not interested to meet someone, the best way is to let him know it outright instead of agreeing first and then aborting it at the last moment.

Not really! Because, most of the extraordinary people are basically ordinary and at some point in time, they, willingly, and supported by the pull of destiny, zoom past ordinary-ship.

The answer is: A dream of making it big in life! However, never forget that it's not just about dreaming big, but a lot of result-oriented actions that ultimately govern the outcome in terms of turning a dream into reality.

If you're cornered today, it's your own making: A wrong decision, a wrong assumption, or no decision at all on a few important issues, that you had made several years ago.

You can still convert the consequences to your advantage, if you stop regretting over what's not changeable any more and focus on deriving the best out the worst possible situations.

If you can't, you deserve to be falling in love with fatal frustrations and failures that will eventually lead to a complete destruction of self and your near and dear ones who're dependent on you.

Get Me Some Food!

The other day, while doing some shopping, along with my family members, when a poor fellow asked me for some donation, I said, 'I wouldn't give you cash, what else you want?'

He looked at me and said, 'Sir, get me some food.'

I, then, took him to a near by Dhaba and bought a few rotis and sabji for him, and handed the same over.

He, with the packet in hand, started moving away quickly.

Perplexed, I asked him, 'why don't you eat your food here?' '

'My children first, Sir!' He replied and vanished, without waiting for my response.

Tears came to my eyes and I regretted not buying him another packet.

It cost me just 30 rupees, but, for him, it appeared to be another chance of seeing the smiling face of his hungry children.

How Criticism Inspired Me Perform Better!

More than 3 decades ago, I cleared my 12th board examination with 8 grace marks in English. Despite scoring pretty well in science subjects, which ultimately ensured my admission to an elite engineering college ( NIT, Nagpur), my overall grade in XIIth board was drastically down due this pathetic performance in English.

Frankly speaking, I had a great disliking for English during the formative years of life and never attempted to make any improvement even. I used to be so poor in spoken English, that, during my Engineering college days, I had always avoided mixing up with college-mates who were local Englishmen, I mean English speaking classmates.

Well, destiny had something else in mind for me. After passing out from the college, when I failed to write a job application in English, leading to a group of friends laughing at me in front of many others, I, for several hours, wept uncontrollably, but then, I decided to do something about it.
