Destiny's Torture: Down the Memory Lane

Since I have written quite a lot about Sandip's struggle against Destiny's torture, let me now formally introduce him to you.

He is around 42/43 years of age and married, and blessed with a 14 years old son. After completing his Masters in Marketing, from a premier institute, 20 years ago, Sandip joined a large Indian company and worked there for 8 years.

Then he quit the job and, along with a friend from the same company, started  a new venture. Both of them worked hard and gradually their business  started getting noticed by relevant people, bringing in a few good clients and revenue as well.

Three months later, Sandip's partner, married to a high profile corporate professional, told Sandip that he wanted to quit and accompany his wife who had recently been transferred to U.S. Stunned, Sandip had no other option but to let him move out of partnership.

Suddenly alone, with no prior experience of running a business, and none available for any kind of support, Sandip, like a fish out of water, began  his first real struggle in life. And then, making it worst, the impact of Dot Com bubble burst engulfed Indian industry with a massive slow down and Sandip's revenue stream got completely dried up.

He had no option but to lay off both of his employees and vacate the office there after. Because, there was no money to pay for their salary and rent as well.

For more than a year, Sandip operated from his residence. He worked hard, and his business slowly started picking up. Later he shifted to a new office and hired a few new employees.

During the next six months, Sandip's business almost doubled and the growth - and his good times - continued for six years up until Lehman Brother's infamous collapse in 2008. Lot of small companies from Sandip's business domain completely vanished from the market, but Sandip, somehow, managed to remain afloat.

After the lull, which continued for a year and half, despite market picking up with a vengeance, Sandip, somehow lost the momentum and kept sinking more and more. Through a discussion with Sandip, I have already found out the reason for Sandip's failure to bounce back and would share with you in course of time. Trust me, that's an amazingly unbelievable story!

Unfortunately, Sandip's struggle for survival is now completing 4 years and, on the basis of what I know about the whole story, I''m sure no ordinary person could have survived for so long in such a situation. He could, he is, and he will, until hitting the bull's eye, because, he is different than others.

That's all about Sandip's background, and a glimpse of his decade old business life.Through my earlier posts, I have tried to highlight the details of his never-ending struggle against destiny might and would continue doing so.
